USAW Coaching Certification
Purpose:
The first level of USAW coaching certification is the copper level. It is a basic introduction to the principles of coaching and wrestling technique. This certification is required to coach at some levels of USA Wrestling events. Please check tournament info for minimum certifications as they may vary from event to event.
Audience:
Coaches, parents and volunteers with focus on coaching younger age groups (athlete ages 0-12).
Prerequisites:
Prospective coaches must be a current member of USA Wrestling and must have a successful background check completed before receiving certification. Please allow 7-10 days for background checks to be completed before attending a certification course.
Cost - A two year USAW coaching card costs $75
Curriculum:
Copper Certifications consist of a 4 hour classroom or online clinic with testing. The Rookie Coaches Wrestling Guide (2nd Ed) will be used as the course manual.
